Asimov's Foundation to be filmed, Solar Eclipse on-line, Meteor showers tonight, How not to die in a rip current

Sci Fi Pool Highlights for 29th July Include:
  • Asmiov's Foundation Series to be Filmed - Maybe it's my lack of imagination, or maybe I need to re-read them, but I can't remember thinking the books would make a great film ... spanning centuries, lots and lots of characters ... mmmhhh where did I file them ...
  • Friday's Solar Eclipse can be viewed on-line - cool because I just can;t make it over to China, Russia or Canada this week
  • Meteor Showers Tonight - if you missed the Delta Aquarid meteor shower the other day (I did) then try and catch the Capricornid meteor shower tonight ... although looking at the weather forecast around here it looks like clouds may be a problem, and that is supposing I am in the right hemisphere? .. alternatively you can just read some poetry about Meteors like this article suggests?
  • How not to get killed by rip tides - With more deaths reported recently in both the UK and the US of young children being swept out to sea I agree with John Scalzi over in his Blog at Tor.com ... how to get out of a rip tide is worth knowing ... I surf, and I have been caught in a rip ...trust me it isn't funny ... know your sea
